Morrison Completes Expansion at Leaf River Energy Center

Morrison’s Onshore Construction Division successfully completed a compressor booster station at New Jersey Resources Leaf River Energy Center in Southeastern Mississippi. This strategic expansion project involved significant civil, structural and mechanical installations to enhance the facility’s capacity and operational efficiency.

The project included the clearing and grading of 4.5 acres of land, creating a solid foundation with over 550 cubic yards of concrete to support the installation of new major equipment. Morrison also successfully installed numerous critical components, such as a 5000 hp centrifugal compressor skid and matching electric motor, gas coolers, suction scrubbers, air compressors, generators and lube oil coolers.

Other notable aspects of the project include:

  • Comprehensive piping systems both above and underground
  • Two major mainline tie-ins to existing infrastructure
  • Complete compressor building installation
  • Construction of portable control room (PCR) housing MCC, VFD, switchgear and UPS systems
  • Full instrumentation and electrical integration
  • Complete painting, coating and insulation

The project scope included installation of all manual, actuated and control valves throughout the system in addition to specialized equipment such as blowdown silencers, sump tanks and pumps, and oily water management systems.

Morrison’s experienced crews successfully navigated complex system integration requirements, reinforcing our reputation for excellence in energy infrastructure construction.
