Setting the Standard for Excavations

Chet Morrison Contractors recently completed their Gold Shovel Standard (“GSS”) certification as a requirement through their partnership with Kinder Morgan. This allows Chet Morrison Contractors to continue performing excavation services for Kinder Morgan and is an additional step in the company’s commitment to improved safety initiatives.

The Gold Shovel Standard is the first compliance program of its kind to offer visibility into excavator performance across networks, between operators and across municipal and state boundaries.

As a member of the Gold Shovel Standard, Chet Morrison Contractors has further dedicated themselves to reducing risk and lowering the damage potential to buried assets. The certification ensures that professional excavators have safety programs in place that are reinforced by management commitment and communicated to their clients.

To become GSS certified, Chet Morrison Contractors underwent an audit program last year to ensure their excavation services met the strict requirements as put forth by Kinder Morgan. This certification was awarded on a national level and is valid in both the United States and Canada for all of Kinder Morgan’s ISNetworld system – a contact management database utilized by the company.
