Q: You’ve traveled a lot in your career, where is the most unique place you’ve worked?

A:  Several unique places come to mind including Barrow Alaska in the North Slope, Canada, The Nederland’s, Curacao, Peru and Singapore, all of which were extremely interesting and very unique. But to answer the question, I would have to say Alaska’s North Slope. The Eskimo way of life, their culture and the dynamic history of the courageous Eskimo people intrigued and inspired me a great deal.

Q: When you aren’t working, how do you spend your time?

A: Being an early riser and avid reader since childhood, I usually wake up about 3:30 and enjoying a quiet time of thinking, studying, praying, planning and (just lately) exercising. It gives me a jump on the day ensuring I get started on the right foot. Time with my wife and five grandchildren is by far the greatest joy in life–the majority of my time is spent doing that. Weekends in the country at my wife’s parents’ are a favorite pastime. Cooking, fly fishing, rabbit and squirrel hunting and occasional target-shooting activities are also a favorite. I also have a 30+ year-old boat to tinker with and administer a little TLC as much as I am able. That relaxes me on summer weekends.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

A: Creating an effective, efficient Learning and Development Center that is a core element in the overall business strategy at CMC. Using my passion for coaching, teaching and assisting individuals and teams to reach their fullest potential and improve organizational performance.

An investment in an effective learning and development system to create a workforce that sets the company apart from its competitors by its reputation is critical in today’s economy.  I am excited to be a part of a company that understands the value of this investment.

Daniel and his wife, Eldine, have been happily married for 33 years; they have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren.  He is a graduate of South Terrebonne High School and a lifelong and current resident of Houma, La.
